A meeting of the office bearers and leaders of the NC held at the residence of Party President Sushil Koirala at Maharajgunj on Wednesday decided to resolve the issues and demands raised by indigenous leaders through democratic process and system as the demands and issues are judicious.[break]
Talking to media persons after the meeting, senior leader of the NC, Sher Bahadur Deuba said the party is always positive to the demands of the indigenous leaders and is always serious to their issues.
He said the NC is serious on issues and demands of the indigenous leaders and added that the judicious demands of the indigenous nationalities will be addressed and fulfilled by holding serious consultations in the party.
The NC started consultations and studies on the issues after some indigenous leaders made preparation to quit the party by putting forth various demands including ethnic-based state, federalism and other rights.
Meanwhile, a committee formed under the leadership of central member Bhim Bahadur Tamang to prepare suggestions on the demands of the indigenous leaders has submitted its report to the party. Stating that the report was positive, Deuba said they will take the report for implementation.
Another meeting of the office-bearers and top leaders of the party will be held on Thursday to discuss on the report, it is learnt.
