During the meeting held at NC Parliamentary Party Office at Singh Durbar today, the lawmaker suggested its party leaders to move ahead through the medium of talks and dialogue, saying problems have surfaced due to Tarai-Madhes agitation and ongoing border blockade imposed by India since long.
The NC had sought suggested from the lawmakers representing the Tarai in response to their call for NC-led initiative to settle the Madhes problem.
Stating that although there was no alternative to talks and dialogue, no concrete and effective talks was held till three months, they stressed the need of approving the Constitution Amendment Bill tabled at the Legislature-Parliament immediately.
Friday's NC office-bearers meeting had decided to take the initiative to resolve the Tarai-Madhes problem.
The constitution amendment bill was tabled on October 7 with an objective of ensuring necessary provision for the proportional and inclusive representation, but it was not approved so far.
NC Spokesperson Dilendra Badu said that discussion would be held with the parties in and outside of the parliament, while blaming the ruling parties for not being serious to resolve the problem.
Badu further said that half of the demands of the Madhes-centric parties would be fulfilled once the constitution is amended and the remaining including delineation of federal states could be finalized after holding discussion with bodies concerned. RSS
