The party plans to generate some Rs 10 million from within the party and an additional Rs 20 million from donors and well-wishers including business organizations and banks. [break]
According to Deep Kumar Upadhyaya, chief of Finance Collection Committee for the NC general convention, an estimated 3,200 representatives including about 100 observers are to take part in the convention slated for September 17-21.
Upadhyaya said they estimate it would cost about Rs 15 million for room and board from September 16 to 22 for the representatives. "Some 13 parties have made tender bids for the purpose," he said. "We have selected three of them. We will soon decide whom to award the contract."
The NC estimates that it would cost Rs 1.5 million for election management, Rs 2 million for internal management of the convention, Rs 1 million for dais management and Rs 500,000 for security arrangements at the convention venue.
According to Upadhyaya, they have allocated Rs 2.5 million for publicity, Rs 1.5 million for convention venue management, Rs 1.5 million for hosting foreign delegates, and Rs 500,000 for organizing cultural programs at the convention. "We have set aside an additional Rs 4 million for miscellaneous expenses," he added.
NC is holding the inaugural session of the convention at the Khulla Manch and the closing session in the exhibition hall at Bhrikuti Mandap.
Speaking at a press conference organized at party headquarters, Upadhyaya said they have received Rs 1.87 million from the party´s parliamentary committee.
Likewise, the Finance Committee will collect Rs 1,000 each from all 3,200 participants as participation fee and Rs 370,000 from party central working committee members. "We also plan to receive donations from the party´s trade unions and special donations from well-wishers," he said.
NC said it would not spend the Rs 40 million collected from the party´s active membership distribution. The party plans to use that amount for construction of the party´s office building and for running party affairs.
