KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Hotels in different parts of Kathmandu have been booked to accommodate delegates arriving for the Nepali Congress’s 15th National General Convention, which begins in the capital today.
The Accommodation Management Committee, coordinated by party Central Working Committee member Ramesh Prasad Dhamala, has arranged hotels in Gaushala, Koteshwor, Lazimpat, Thamel, New Bus Park, Sundhara, Balaju and Kalanki.
Lila Prasad Dhakal, president of the Nepal Democratic Small Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association, said hotels have been booked to accommodate up to 10,000 delegates and well-wishers.
Under the arrangement, delegates from the Koshi and Madhesh provinces will stay in Gaushala and Koteshwor, while those from the Bagmati province will be accommodated in Lazimpat and Thamel. Delegates from the Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will stay in Balaju and the New Bus Park area, while those from the Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will be accommodated in Sundhara and Kalanki.
‘3,600 delegates to take part in special convention’
Representatives of the party’s public relations committees arriving from abroad will be accommodated in Lazimpat and Thamel.
Dhakal said accommodation has been arranged at discounted rates. “We have arranged 5,000 rooms to accommodate 10,000 delegates and well-wishers arriving from Nepal and abroad,” he said.
The Congress said convention delegates representing districts, public relations committees and sister organisations will have to arrange and pay for their own accommodation and hotel expenses.
However, the party will cover accommodation expenses for guests arriving from abroad, Dhamala said.
According to him, the party will provide breakfast and lunch to delegates at Bhrikutimandap throughout the convention. The Nepal Democratic Small Hotel Entrepreneurs’ Association will help delegates who face difficulties finding accommodation.
The Congress said details of hotels, their locations and room rates have been posted on the party’s website to help delegates choose accommodation and avoid confusion.
The general convention will continue until October 8 (Asoj 22).
