National Unity Convention of Nepali Communist Party endorses nine-point proposal

KATHMANDU, Nov 5: The National Unity Convention of the newly formed Nepali Communist Party—established through the merger of 10 leftist forces including the CPN (Maoist Centre) and CPN (Unified Socialist) — has endorsed a nine-point proposal on Wednesday. The convention, underway at Bhrikutimandap in Kathmandu, approved proposals regarding the party’s name, election symbol, statute, manifesto and other key aspects.

The nine endorsed points include:

1. The parties involved in the unification process will merge to form the Nepali Communist Party.
   
   


2. The election symbol of the party will be a five-pointed star.
   
   


3. All members of the unifying parties will henceforth be members of the Nepali Communist Party.
   
   


4. The central structures of the party will be finalized in consultation with leaders of all unifying parties and organizational integration will be carried out. The central committee will be formed by accommodating members from all constituent parties.
   
   


5. The authority to finalize central structures and carry out organizational integration will be entrusted to the party’s coordinator and co-coordinators.
   
   


6. Representatives elected to the House of Representatives, National Assembly, Provincial Assemblies and local levels under the election symbols of the CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Nepal Socialist Party, and CPN (Maoist Socialist) will now be recognized as representatives of the Nepali Communist Party.
   
   


7. All movable and immovable assets, including bank deposits of the unifying parties, will now fall under the ownership and responsibility of the Nepali Communist Party.
   
   


8. The manifesto of the Nepali Communist Party has been endorsed.
   
   


9. The party statute has been endorsed with discussion and necessary recommendations.
