The mega event of domestic automobile industry is being held at Bhrikuti Mandap Exhibition Hall. It will showcase automobiles, spare parts and accessories, according to NADA officials."The six-day event, which will continue till September 20, aims to promote sale of automobiles and accessories ahead of the Dashain and Tihar festivals," Gopi Neupane, general secretary of NADA, told Republica.
NADA is hopeful that the event will give a much needed boost to the automobile industry which has been experiencing slowdown after the devastating earthquake of April 25. "Business of automobile dealers fell significantly after the earthquake because of the shift in customers' priorities," Neupane said, adding that the business is improving gradually in recent weeks.
New launches will be the major attraction of the auto show, according to NADA officials. "Besides, it will showcase spare parts and accessories and provide information to visitors about the Nepali automobile industry," Neupane said, adding, "The other objective of the Auto Show is to create a common platform where all dealers and stakeholders of the industry can come together and deliberate on problems that they are facing."
The event will see participation of most dealers of most of the automobile brands available in the country. Besides, automobile technicians, Banks and Financial Institutions (BFIs), and lubricant and tire companies, are also expected to participate in the event. The organizers, however, are yet to finalize number of stalls and participating companies.
Last year, the Auto Show had 100 stalls. Similarly, dealers of 53 automobile brands including Daihastu, Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Nissan, Skoda, Suzuki, Tata, Volkswagen, Bajaj, Hero, KTM, Mahindra, Royal Enfield, Terra Motors, TVS, UM Bikes and Yamaha, among others had participated in the event.
Like in the past years, the Auto Show will have separate sections for two-wheelers, four-wheelers and commercial vehicles, according to Neupane. "This year we will have a separate stall to raise awareness among visitors regarding traffic rules. We hope it will help to reduce frequency of road accidents," he added.
