MoYS Secretary Dipendra Nath Sharma praised the contribution made by youths in assisting the quake victims in the affected districts and requested ANFA and clubs affiliated with it to send volunteers for reconstruction efforts to prevent further damage during the monsoon.
"Homeless people are at great risk. Monsoon could be disastrous as the quake has increased the possibility of landslides in the worst affected areas in the hills. Participation of youths in relief and rehabilitation efforts has been praiseworthy. They made up for the government's slow response," Sharma said at a program organized at ANFA complex, Satdobato."We need to clear the debris and resettle quake victims before the monsoon. The only way we can do this is with help from youth volunteers," added Sharma.
Sharma also drew examples of the destruction in Haiti and Pakistan and said that their failure to respond timely claimed further lives. He said the government was now focusing on providing zinc sheets to the quake victims to rebuild houses.
ANFA Acting President Lalit Krishna Shrestha assured the government of ANFA's support to government's reconstruction efforts.
