SOLUKHUMBU, Sept. 17: Some internal and foreign climbers have been stranded in the Manaslu area when they were in Manaslu peak expedition in Gorkha.

More than 1,000 climbers have been stranded for the past few days as they were at Samagaun of Gorkha for climbing the 8,163 m Manaslu peak.

Movement has been difficult as snow has accumulated five feet or more deep, said Tikasingh Tamang of Deusa of Solukhumbu district. He said there are 400 foreign and 750 Nepalis who are compelled to remain in the base camp.

More than 100 tents in first and second camp have been buried and 50 have been torn apart and poles broken, he said. They will have to wait for improvement in weather for some days, said Tamang.
