KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Nepal’s monsoon has weakened slightly as the low-pressure line is currently positioned south of its average location. Still, moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal continue to sweep into the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
Heavy rainfall likely in Koshi and Bagmati
This afternoon, skies are expected to remain generally cloudy nationwide, with chances of moderate rain at some places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as isolated areas of Madhesh Province. Heavy rainfall is likely at one or two spots in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces.
By tonight, conditions are forecast to be generally cloudy over Koshi and Gandaki provinces, along with other hilly regions, and partly cloudy elsewhere. Moderate showers are possible in the hilly and Terai regions of Koshi, as well as in the hilly belts of other provinces. One or two areas in Koshi’s hills and Terai may also experience heavy downpours, the MFD reported.
