Speaking with mediapersons in Birgunj Shah said he is personally not interested in becoming a king, but the “institution” can return if the people so want. He claimed that the royal family abdicated the throne for the sake of peace. “I don´t want to be a king personally,” Shah said, adding, “But if the people want, monarchy may return.” [break]
Pointing that the country is headed toward violence, Shah opined there must be peace in the country.
Stating that he does not want to make “political comments”, he urged politicians to lead the country toward peace and prosperity.
Shah who had reached Gahawamai temple said he was ready to return to Kathmandu from Singapore. “I was told to go. But if people want I will come back to Nepal.”
He also said he was “happy” to see a huge mass of people gathered to greet him.
Asked about press freedom, Shah questioned, “Was the media stopped from writing in our days?”

Responding to a question on his interest, Shah said, “I like to listen to music, both pop and rock.”
Meanwhile, some locals have pointed that Shah´s comments has political undertones. “This is not only religious trip, it has political meaning also,” said Suman Bhattarai, chief of Simara College. He pointed that the pro-royalist group are trying “to cash in” the crisis in the country.
