KATHMANDU, June 30: The government has expressed its commitment to mobilize an adequate number of workforces across the country to quickly address the possible disruptions to the flow of electricity during the monsoon.
According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (MoEWRI), it has kept an adequate number of human resources and technical equipment in readiness, aiming to minimize possible power disruptions. The ministry has made it clear that continuous efforts are being made to balance the flow of electricity, strengthen the distribution network and make necessary technical improvements.

Heat, wind, and rain are likely to cause damages to related infrastructure, resulting in imbalances and disruptions in electricity supply from time to time. Works including replacing worn-out transformers, installing new high-capacity transformers in necessary places, and upgrading breaker panels have been given high priority.
During the summer, the demand for electricity increases due to the simultaneous use of fans, ACs, refrigerators, and other appliances, as well as charging electric vehicles. According to the MoEWRI, it has already issued necessary circulars to the No-Light units, substation chiefs, provincial office chiefs and responsible officers of the distribution branches to provide immediate information to the service recipients and resolve their complaints.
If the necessary information or complaint is not heard by the concerned body, the service recipients have been requested to provide their details to the ministry's hotline number 1151. The MoEWRI has further clarified that necessary action will be taken against employees who ignore the complaints of the service recipients and fail to fulfill their responsibilities in accordance with the prevailing law.
