Fort Lauderdale, Nov 9 – Lionel Messi made history again, recording his 400th career assist as Inter Miami demolished Nashville SC 4-0 in the MLS Cup Playoffs at Chase Stadium on Saturday.
The 38-year-old scored twice in the first half before setting up Tadeo Allende for Miami’s fourth, sealing the team’s place in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Making space for history
Messi is now the only active player to reach 400 assists and is just four shy of Ferenc Puskás’ all-time record. This season, he has already scored five goals and added two assists in three playoff games, on top of 29 goals and 19 assists from the regular season. Inter Miami will face FC Cincinnati in the semifinals, starting November 22.
