KATHMANDU: All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) is preparing to felicitate Nepali national football team with cash incentives for reaching the semifinal of SAFF Championship after 12 years.

According to highly placed ANFA sources, all the 23 members of the team including 20 players and three coaches will be awarded within a week amidst a dinner party. "We are planning to reward each of the 23 members of the team with a cash prize of Rs 100,000," the source disclosed, adding, "ANFA will chip in the deficit amount, if we fail to raise enough money after the sale of dinner tickets." Since the beginning of SAFF Championship in 1997, Nepal has entered semifinal twice. Nepal had crashed out from semifinal a couple of month earlier in India after 2-1 defeat at the hands of Afghanistan. The first time Nepal made it to the semifinal was in the second edition held in Goa in 1999. Meanwhile, the national team has already begun preparation for AFC Challenge Cup from Monday. Challenge Cup will be held in Kathmandu from March 8 to 19.
