KATHMANDU, Nov 12: The dispute that had halted the water diversion of the Melamchi Water Supply Project has finally been resolved. An agreement was reached after a meeting held until 10 PM on Tuesday in the presence of Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Kulman Ghising, who also looks after the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry, and the Urban Development Ministry.

The discussion, held at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, was attended by secretaries from the concerned ministries, officials from the Melamchi Water Supply Development Committee (MWSDC), and other stakeholders.
According to the MWSDC, the dispute regarding the diversion work was settled following the signing of a memorandum of understanding among all parties. With this, the project’s water supply work is expected to move forward smoothly once again.
