KATHMANDU, June 16: A delegation of Media Alliance Nepal, a joint organization of the country's major news media operators, held discussions with the leadership of Nepal Republic Media (NRM) on Monday and expressed solidarity with the publishers to stop the ongoing political attacks and interference against the media.
The Alliance expressed solidarity with NRM’s Chairman Binod Raj Gyawali and Director Shobha Gyawali after they explained the incident in which Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Rana Deuba threatened to bankrupt the news media organization and its operators.

The alliance’s President Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, Publisher of Arthik Dainik Prahlad Rijal, and Chairman of Rajdhani News Publications, the publishing house of Rajdhani Daily, Sachin Serchan, representing the organization, reached the headquarters of NRM in Sundhara and held discussions.
During the discussion, they expressed solidarity against the recent attacks on the mass media. They also noted that the arrest warrant issued against journalist Dilbhushan Pathak, the court order to remove news against two online media outlets, NepalKhabar and Bizmandu, and other developments are a series of attacks on the press.
During the discussion, they also pointed out such problems have been observed in the entire news media world and the need to organize a discussion among all stakeholders to formulate a future strategy against the attacks on news media. There was also a discussion on the need to be vigilant against the planned attacks against the press.
