KATHMANDU, Feb 22: Madan Bhandari University of Science and Technology (MBUST), in association with Kathmandu University, will host the IFIP WG 9.4 Doctoral Consortium 2026 on May 24 in Chitlang, MBUST said in a press release.
According to the press release, the consortium will be held a day before the 19th International Conference of IFIP Working Group 9.4 under the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP), scheduled for May 25–27 in Kathmandu.
The academic forum supports PhD candidates working in Information and Communication Technologies for Development (ICT4D) and related fields, offering a platform to present ongoing research and receive feedback from international scholars.

Held under the theme “Reorienting the Digital: Ethics, Ontology, and Sustainable Futures,” the consortium will focus on ethical, ontological, and sustainability dimensions of digital transformation, particularly from Global South perspectives, the press release said.
The press release further stated that doctoral candidates with defined research proposals or ongoing dissertation work may apply by submitting an extended abstract of up to 2,000 words, a short biography, and a supervisor’s support letter to the consortium chairs.
All submissions will undergo peer review, and selected participants will join mentoring sessions. Accepted participants will receive one-day accommodation, meals, and travel support from Kathmandu to Chitlang and back.
MBUST said hosting the international consortium reflects its commitment to research excellence, digital innovation, and global academic collaboration.
