DANG, Oct 27: Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal on Wednesday said that the UCPN (Maoist) had dishonored Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood by disregarding diplomatic protocols.

Terming the shoe-throwing incident during Sood´s visit to Solukhumbu on October 6 a "diplomatic insult", Nepal said, "The Maoists lack diplomatic nicety and they have dishonored the Indian envoy through the attack. It has defamed the whole nation." [break]

The prime minister´s condemnation of the incident has followed a serious concern over the incident from New Delhi. India expressed its serious concern though the government officially regretted the incident. The government on Monday had directed a probe into the incident.

Stating that any form of attack on envoys of any countries was an intolerable act, the prime minister urged the Maoists not to repeat such disgraceful acts.

"The attack is condemnable and also an insult to the Nepali people´s culture," he said.

Stating that a few powerful countries were attempting to target Nepal´s neighboring nations through its soil, Prime Minister Nepal expressed his commitment not to let them use the country´s soil against any of its neighbors.

He further claimed though international powers were demonstrating meddlesome behaviors, the country´s internal affairs remains intact.

Sood´s displeasure at Solukhumbu incident

Indian Ambassador Rakesh Sood has expressed displeasure over the Solukhumbu incident with Deputy and Foreign Minister Sujata Koirala at the latter´s office on Wednesday.

In response, Koirala assured the Indian envoy that the government would take action against the Maoist cadres who hurled shoes at the ambassador during his Solukhumbu visit on October 6. Koirala told Sood that the government has taken the incident seriously.
