ARGHAKHANCHI, March 31: This is the seventh time he is appearing in the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams. He is hopeful that this time he would pass, and get promoted at his job. Dol Bahadur Basnet, 49, who has been working as an assistant at the Area Health Post, Rasichaur Argha, has held the same post for the last 30 years.

However, he has failed in the exams six times, hindering his chance at getting promoted. His only ambition in life is to pass the SLC exams and get promoted.

After taking the exams of Compulsory English held on Thursday, he said quite happily that he did well in the exam. "I will pass the exam this time. If failed, I will continue my efforts to pass the exam," said Basnet, of Sandhighark-12 in the district.

"I want to pursue my higher education as age is no barrier to education and progress," he said. Basnet is the father of two daughters and a son. His eldest son is studying CMA.

His elder daughter Anju is taking the SLC exams along with him from the same center of Yuva Barsha Janata Rabi-Chitra Higher Secondary School. His youngest daughter will enroll in Class 10 this year.

"Education is the biggest asset in life. It makes people be disciplined and civilized," said Basnet.
