“The SC order has hurt the sentiments of the entire Madhesi people, especially the Madhesi youths who are eager to join the national army,” acting chairman of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) Rameshwor Ray Yadav told Republica. [break]
He said that SC´s order will sideline the government decision to make the national army more inclusive.
General Secretary of MPRF-Republican Atmaram Sah said that the SC stay order proves that the apex court is unaware of the political changes happening in the country. “How could the SC pass such an order when there are separate battalions of Rais, Magars, Gurungs and Madhesis in Nepal Army?” argued Sah.
NA has four battalions with personnel drawn from specific ethnic groups: Kali Bahadur Battalion for Gurungs, Ripumardan Battalion for Rais, Purano Gorakh Battalion for Magars and Naya Sabuj Battalion for Madhesis.

Vice-chairman of Tarai Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) Brikheshchandra Lal said that the judiciary must be fair. “If judiciary does not remain fair, Madhesis may go against it,” added Lal.
Irrigation Minister and Chairman of TMDP-Nepal Mahendra Yadav said that United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) will hold talks on the matter.
“We will take necessary decision in this regard after studying the SC stay order,” Yadav told Republica.
Similarly, Vice-chairman of Sadbhawana Party Laxmanlal Karna, who is a lawyer, termed the SC stay order wrong.
“The stay order has proven that the SC always comes in the way at a time when Madhesis demand their rights,” argued Karna.
However, MPRF-R Chairman and Information Minister Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta opined that it is not necessary to take SC stay order negatively as it is not the final verdict.
“I think while passing its final verdict the SC will ultimately consider the provision in the Interim Constitution that states each body of the nation will be inclusive,” added Gupta.
