RAUTAHAT/JANAKPUR, Dec 27: Local cadres of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) on Sunday staged demonstrations in Gaur, the district headquarters of Rautahat, to protest the attack on their leader Rajendra Mahato by the police.

UDMF cadres staged sit-in before the District Administration Office (DAO) in Gaur. They have demanded action against the police involved in attacking Sadbhawana Party Chairperson Mahato at Jogbani border in Biratnagar on Saturday.

“Police brutally beat up our leader Mahato who was staging a peaceful protest,” Sadbhawana Party central member Yogendra Yadav said. “We demand action against those involved in the attack.”

Mahato got injured when the police intervened in the sit-in staged by UDMF cadres under Mahato's leadership at Jogbani border in Morang on Saturday.
During the incident, he sustained serious injuries to different parts of his body, including head, legs, and hands. He is undergoing treatment at Biratnagar-based Golden Hospital.

Saying that the attack on Mahato was the government's conspiracy to murder him, local cadres and leaders staged demonstrations at different locations in the district, including Garuda, Shivanagar and also other districts of Tarai.
