KATHMANDU, March 5: CPN (Maoist Center) MP Madhav Sapkota has raised questions about the government’s Land Ordinance, inquiring which corporate house was behind drafting the privatization proposal.
MP Sapkota raised this question while presenting a proposal to reject the Privatization Ordinance (First Amendment), 2002 in the House of Representatives meeting on Wednesday.

He criticized the process of the ordinance, calling it a clear violation of democratic values. He also accused the government of mocking the Constitution by introducing the ordinance. He described the government’s handling of the land ordinance as having the “smell of Giribandhu”.
MP Sapkota said, “This ordinance completely undermines democratic values. It has exposed Parliament for what it truly is. In terms of law and convention, not one, not two, not three, not four, but six ordinances and 32 acts were introduced. Is this democracy? These were brought forward in mockery of the Constitution. Where was it drafted? No one has answers. Which corporate house was behind this? And why did the government insist that not even a comma or full stop be changed?”
He also accused the government of trying to pass the ordinance without changing even the ‘comma’ and ‘full stop’ in the ordinance.
