KATHMANDU, March 29: Nepali cricket team flew to Kuwait on Monday to participate in the ACC Elite Trophy but without vice-captain Gyanendra Malla.

Though 16 members of the Nepali squad left Kathmandu on Monday morning, Malla was forced to stay at home, as his visa application was rejected by Kuwait. [break]

According to Cricket Association of Nepal, all players, including the reserves, got their visas for Kuwait but Gyanendra was barred. CAN applied for the visa on Saturday for the third time.

"If he cannot get a visa on Tuesday, we´ll send a reserve player to Kuwait", said Binay Raj Pandey, president of CAN. Subas Khakurel, Naresh Budhaair and Pradeep Aairee are in the reserve lineup.

The tournament will kick off on Wednesday.
