KU holds 31st convocation; 2,209 students graduate in first phase

The ceremony chaired by Prime Minister and University Chancellor Sushila Karki conferred degrees across the university’s seven schools.

KATHMANDU, Dec 10: Kathmandu University’s 31st convocation ceremony witnessed the graduation of 2,209 students in its first phase.



The ceremony chaired by Prime Minister and University Chancellor Sushila Karki conferred degrees across the university’s seven schools. The School of Arts saw 83 students graduate, the School of Education 294, and the School of Engineering 340. Meanwhile, 36 students graduated from the School of Law, 378 from the School of Management, 881 from the School of Medical Sciences, and 197 from the School of Science.

By degree level, the graduates included seven PhD, DM, and MCh recipients; 397 postgraduate students; 50 Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) holders; and 1,728 undergraduates. Among the graduates, 52.24 per cent were male and 47.76 per cent female.


The convocation also recognised 196 international students from 17 countries, including Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Malaysia, the Maldives, Mexico, Namibia, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the United States, and Vietnam.


Kathmandu University has announced that the second phase of the convocation is scheduled for June or July next year.
