KATHMANDU, April 9: Chairman of the CPN-UML, Jhala Nath Khanal , has said it was better to hold Constituent Assembly (CA) elections by mid-November.

Speaking at a programme of the party organised on the occasion of 34th Memorial Day of Martyr Ratna Kumar Bantawa, he said the UML was firm on holding CA election by July, and if it was not possible it should be held in November as per the four-party consensus forged on March 30. [break]

Khanal said that UML was for election the sooner it was possible, but holding election was not possible without preparations.

If the UCPN (Maoist) has dreamt of bringing two third majority by misusing the administrative mechanism that was set by the party´s outgoing government, but the UML would not let its dream come true, said Khanal.

Khanal urged the party cadres to unite in the election to fulfill martyr Bantawa´s dream of making prosperous, independent and beautiful country.

Similarly, former CA Chairman Subash Nembang said the UML could be a powerful political force in the country if it moved ahead with unity.

UML General Secretary, Ishwor Pokhrel, expressed his doubt whether the election that was held on the apolitical person´s leadership brings the national politics on the right track, and stressed on going to election with proper preparations.

Politbureau member of the party , Pradeep Nepal urged the party cadres and leaders to study the materials published on martyr Bantawa´s contributions.

Bantawa, who had sacrificed his life for a change in the nation as a cadre of the then CPN(Marxist-Leninist) party on Chait 27, 2035 B.S., was murdered by the then Panchayat government.

During the programme, Chairman of the Bantawa Memorial Foundation, Dharanidhar Gautam, UML Mechi Zonal Committee Chairman, Indra Bhandari, and others discussed on martyr Bantawa´s life.
