While searching for the old photos in Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya’s photo gallery, I found changes in the monuments, so in the lifestyle of the people.

What was my city like, before I was born? This question always hunted me every time, while roaming around the city and increased my level of curiosity for astonishing architecture in the Kathmandu Valley. It is evident that the Valley is culturally, historically and aesthetically important where time has its toll on the city. Along with the changing time, the city has also faced destruction due to earthquake in 2015.

Around five years have already passed after the earthquake, but there are still many monuments that are yet to be restored. While searching for the old photos in Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya’s photo gallery, I found changes in the monuments, so in the lifestyle of the people. The surroundings of some monuments are not affected by the earthquake and some areas affected by the act of the people. Here are some pictures of old Kathmandu for you to compare and find out what’s missing and what has been added.
