Lok Kirti Mahabihar, which is nearly 700 years old, is one of the hundreds of big and small ancient Buddhist monasteries and stupas in the Kathmandu Valley. [break]The upgraded facility, built under Indian assistance of NRs 7.3 million, would provide additional space for meditation and accomodation of training staff and teachers.
The project has been implemented by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, as part of the construction and restoration work of nine places of historical and cultural importance in Lalitpur at an estimated cost of NRs 32.60 million.
At a separate function organized by India-Nepal Friendship Foundation, Singh inaugurated the newly launched website --www.inff.in-- of the INFF. On the occasion, he said the relations between Nepal and India had remained cordial despite political changes.
Singh also expressed confidence that the political parties in Nepal will be able resolve the political deadlock. "It is upto the people of Nepal to decide how to resolve it. Whatever Nepali people choose to decide will be acceptable to India," he said.
Meanwhile, Singh held separate meetings with President Dr Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Saturday. President Yadav had hosted a dinner reception at his official residence in honor of Singh.
