KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Suresh Mannen, the development director (Asia) of International Tennis Federation called on All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association (NLTA) for more international participation to increase the quality of game in Nepal.

Mannen, who is touring Nepal, made the remarks during a program at the Satdobato Tennis Complex on Tuesday. "A player cannot increase his level only playing with teammates of his country. It is essential to compete in international level so it helps to increase level." [break]

Mannen opined that four fundamental conditions -- physical infrastructure, tournaments, development of players and training of coaches -- were necessary for the developments.

Speaking on the occasion, NLTA President Manoj Rana said that the association was giving special focus on the junior level to develop tennis from the grass-root. "Construction of two tennis courts are underway at the Satdobato Court," Rana said adding, "We could host international tournament after their completion as we will have six courts at the same premises. We could provide international exposure to more players after hosting tournaments at the home court."
