India does not support pro-monarchy movement in Nepal: BJP Leader Chauthaiwale

During a meeting on Friday with Barshaman Pun Ananta, Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Dr Chauthaiwale clarified that India supports Nepal’s current constitution and democratic system.

KATHMANDU May 2: Dr Vijay Chauthaiwale, head of the Foreign Affairs Department of India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has stated that India does not support the pro-monarchy movement in Nepal.



During a meeting on Friday with Barshaman Pun Ananta, Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (Maoist Centre), Dr Chauthaiwale clarified that India supports Nepal’s current constitution and democratic system.

According to a statement from Pun’s secretariat, the meeting was cordial, and Dr Chauthaiwale emphasized that India has no links to or support for monarchist campaigns in Nepal.


The two leaders also discussed strengthening ties between the BJP and the Maoist Centre, highlighting the positive relationship between the parties in the past and a shared interest in deepening cooperation.


Chauthaiwale also admired Nepal’s political parties who are voicing solidarity with India following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
