KATHMANDU, May 10: As an attempt to ease the lockdown enforced to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus disease in the country, the government has introduced a ‘timecard system’ for vehicles effective from Sunday.
As per the new rule, vehicles are allowed to operate only during the stipulated time. The vehicles of the government bodies are allowed to operate between 9:30 and 10 in the morning to go to offices and can run between 5 to 6 PM to return home. Vehicles belonging to the banks and financial institutions, on the other hand, are allowed to operate from 9:30 to 10 AM and also between 3:30 and 5 PM. Timecard rule requires the vehicles supplying grocery items, foodstuff and other emergency items to operate only before 10 AM.

Consequently, Kathmandu streets witnessed a large number of vehicles during the office opening hours earlier today.
