KATHMANDU, Nov 23: The museum at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square area, which is listed in the World Heritage List, is crowded with internal and external tourists. The museum was opened to internal and external tourists on 17 September, 2021, after COVID-19 cases decreased in Nepal.
“The number of domestic tourists visiting the museum has crossed 300 a day as the risk of the virus has decreased,” said Sandeep Khanal, head of Hanumandhoka Durbar Herchaha Adda. He said that with the opening of the school after the lockdown, students have started visiting the museum as well.

Khanal said that no domestic tourists have come from outside the Valley after the pandemic. The office has been admitting visitors to the gallery inside the museum only by adopting health safety measures. Masks are mandatory for entry. Sanitizers have also been provided in some places inside the museum.
Similarly, the museum was visited by 4,300 domestic tourists in September. However, only 90 foreign tourists visited the museum during that time. According to the office, 6,400 domestic tourists and 343 foreign tourists visited the museum in October. Among the foreign tourists, Americans were high in number while Chinese were the least.
