Heavy snow followed by incessant rain badly affected the locals of Jajarkot district. Over a dozen VDCs and settlements including Khalanga, Paink, Jhapra, Ramidanda, Nayakwada, Rokayagaun, Archhani, Pajaru, Talegaun, Dhime, Daha, Majhkot and Kortrang received about one foot of snow.
"We have not been able to step out of the house following the snowfall. Children have been missing out on school since Tuesday due to extreme cold," said Kali Bahadur Singh of Paink VDC-1.
Incessant snowfall in upper Mugu district forced schools and private and government offices to shut. Shops in Gamgadhi, the district headquarters, also remained closed.
However, local farmers awaiting rain for the orange cultivation have expressed their happiness. "Our wheat crop was on the verge of failure for lack of rain. The timely rainfall has done us a huge favor. It would be very good if the rainfall continues for two more days," said Bhadra Bahadur Batala, a farmer at Kalegaun village, Khalanga.
Similarly, snowfall in Terhathum and Sankhuwasabha districts down to an altitude of about 1,500 meters has made it difficult for the locals to carry out their daily activities.
"The thick snow has made things difficult for locals and tourists alike," informed Maya Khanal of Gufa Pokhari. Localities including Gufa Pokhari, Mangalbare Chauki and Makalu are under heavy snow.
Incessant snow has cut off road transport in 11 VDCs in Bajura since Monday. Porters and mules have been stranded mid-way in their journeys, according to Pema Bhote, a local.

Locals have to walk for a day from Kolit to reach Martadi town as jeeps and tractors could not come into operation. Using the road has also become dangerous because it is slippery. Meanwhile, the lower reaches of the district have been hit by heavy rain.
Schools in this northern district have remained closed.
Snow at Larpak in northern Gorkha district has severely affected some 500 quake victims living there. The quake victims have been surviving in flimsy tents and makeshift houses. They do not even have warm clothing to ward off the biting cold.
