KATHMANDU, Aug 13: Inspector General of Police Dan Bahadur Karki has urged members of public bodies, including parliament, to maintain decorum and civility during official deliberations, expressing deep dissatisfaction over recent remarks directed at the security agency.
Addressing a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, IGP Karki cautioned against making indiscriminate allegations that risk undermining institutional integrity and dampening employee morale.

The police chief raised concerns over the practice of leveling unfounded claims against officers with long records of honest service, warning that such attacks could adversely affect overall performance. Referring to petitions and complaints filed against the police administration, Karki stated that issues must be evaluated individually rather than painted with a broad brush.
"A person who has served with integrity throughout their career is brought here and subjected to whatever anyone feels like saying," Karki told the committee. "This should not be a venue for unrestrained remarks; there must be a basic standard of decorum in any forum. We also receive numerous petitions. If every petition were handled in this manner, it would create serious operational difficulties."
Emphasizing the need for sensitivity among public officials speaking from positions of responsibility, Karki reiterated his call for all stakeholders to uphold institutional dignity and exercise restraint. His remarks followed a series of critical allegations leveled against the Nepal Police by lawmakers during the committee meeting, including HoR member Khagendra Sunar.
