IGP Aryal underscores new police acts and regulations

KATHMANDU, Nov 18: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Upendrakanta Aryal pointed out the need to formulate new Police Acts and Regulations that are consistent with the changing times.

Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Metropolitan Police here today, IGP Aryal said that Nepal Police was committed towards fulfilling the responsibilities and objectives stipulated by the prevailing laws.


Aryal asserted, “There will be no compromising in maintaining law and order. In absence of law and order, the constitution-stipulated rights could be breached, that’s when the role of Police is more prominent.”

Also, speaking at the program, Laxmi Prasad Dhakal, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, argued that police advance themselves more to ensure security to the people and cities.

He said, “The police organization should create an environment where public’s confidence on them remains intact and they feel safe and secured in their presence.”

Similarly, Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) and Chief of Metropolitan Police Office Bigyanraj Sharma expressed the confidence that the Nepal Police will leave no stone unturned to discharge their duties and responsibilities entrusted by the State despite the limited resources.

Likewise, Malla K Sundar, Civil Society leader, suggested the Police to serve the people and nation acknowledging the public’s sentiments so that police can take them into their confidence. RSS
