House sees various proposals presented amid sloganeering

KATHMANDU, Dec 28: The government presented various proposals in the meeting of the Legislature-Parliament on Monday amidst the sloganeering by lawmakers of the Madhes-centric parties.

As soon as the meeting started the lawmakers belonging to the parties in the United Democratic Madhesi Front picketed the in front of the Speaker's seat shouting slogans. Although the meeting was scheduled for 1 pm, it was delayed by half an hour.


The parliament meeting unanimously approved the proposal presented by Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel at the start of the meeting that the House grant approval to the Charter Agreement of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

Likewise, the meeting approved the proposal seeking its approval of the Manmohan Adhikari Health Science Academy Bill, 2072.

Similarly, the Parliament meeting today unanimously approved the proposal that it pass the Education (Eighth Amendment) Bill, 2072 which the Education Minister Girirajmani Pokharel had presented earlier.

Taking part in the discussions on the Bill, lawmaker Prem Suwal of the Nepal Workers Peasants Party slammed the Bill saying it was like the one that would produce educated unemployed. Similarly, Radheshyam Adhikari of the Nepali Congress, Gangalal Tuladhar, Amar Bahadur Thapa, Nisha Kumari Saha, Geeta Chhetri, Shyam Kumar Shrestha and Umesh Shrestha also commented on the Bill saying it would help improve the quality of education in the country.

Replying to queries raised by the MPs taking part in the discussions, Minister Pokharel said the Bill would assist the formulation of a new education policy matching the newly-promulgated constitution. RSS
