House panel directs govt to support kin of deceased migrant worker

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Committee on Finance and Labor Relations of the Legislature-Parliament has directed the government to provide compensation at the earliest to the families of the deceased migrant workers who lost their lives abroad in course of job.



A meeting of the committee held today directed the government to provide the amount to the injured persons and families of the deceased soon in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.



Acting President of the committee, Shrawan Kumar Agrawal said the government should expedite the diplomatic initiatives to resolve the problems regarding the visa issuance to the Nepalis in Hong Kong.



Agrawal said the committee has given direction to the government to submit laws related to labor within January 29 in the House by making timely changes.



During the meeting, Minister for Labor and Transport, Sarita Giri expressed commitment to implementing the committee´s directives and to resolve the problems seen in foreign employment services.
