The aircraft, with registration 9N-ALM, demonstrated its competence to operate commercial flights in all aspects of airline operation, the airline said in the statement.According to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Air Operator Certificate (AOC) Requirements, which are as per International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, the proving flight was operated under the inspection of CAAN inspectors. ICAO inspectors also observed the proving flight, the airline said.
"With the proving flight successfully operated on Wednesday, we will commence commercial operation soon," Bijay Shrestha, Vice President (Administrations), Himalaya Airlines, said, commenting on the proving flight.
Himalaya Airlines is an international scheduled full service air carrier incorporated and based in Nepal. The airline plans to begin commercial operation with a flight to New Delhi, India. It is adding Doha (Qatar) in its flight network next month. The airline plans to start flight to Chinese cities of Lhasa, Chengdu and Beijing later on.
The airline had welcomed its first aircraft, Airbus 320-214, on March 9. The aircraft had carried a high-level Nepali delegation led by Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli to Beijing on March 20.
Over the next five years, the airline aims at acquiring 15 Airbus A320 family aircraft and operate to various cities in Asia and beyond from its hub in Kathmandu. It plans to introduce wide body aircraft of A330 family in due course of time to operate direct flights to Japan, Korea, Europe, Australia, and Americas, according to Shrestha.
