Two children have died and 21 others have been infected by the disease that has spread in the village for the last few days."A team of health workers has been deployed for the treatment of the infected people," Dr Bikash Shah, chief of Lakendra Primary Healthcare Center (PHC), said.
In addition to the treatment, he claimed that the health workers have been spreading awareness about precautionary measures to prevent further epidemic in the villages.
According to PHC Chief Shah, children from six months to two years have been most affected by the diarrhea outbreak. Villagers are worried as lots of other children have started falling ill.
The diarrheal epidemic has spread to Lakendra and Bisalla VDCs from Tolijaisi. Shah informed that diarrhea patients have been found in those VDCs too.
He requested parents of the ailing children to bring them to health facilities.
Nirmal Rasaili, acting chief of District Public Health Office (DPHO), Dailekh, claimed that the epidemic has been checked from spreading further after the mobilization of health workers in the affected villages.
Health workers, who reached the affected villages, have treated 21 children. Among them, most were infected from diarrheal disease and some were found infected by pneumonia as well.
Dailekh's Chief District Officer Pitamber Ghimire claimed that precautionary measures have been taken to prevent the epidemic from spreading.
