KATHMANDU, July 17: The government in the fiscal year 2024/25 collected revenue of Rs 1.178 trillion, an 11.33 percent increase from the amount collected in the previous FY.
The records with the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO) show that the revenue collection stood at only Rs 1.058 trillion in the FY 2023/24. The amount soared by Rs 120 billion in the review period.
Diversifying Government Revenue
Despite gaining a notable rise in the revenue collection, the government still fell short to meet its ambitious target of Rs 1.419 trillion in the last FY. The revenue collection was only 83.06 percent of the annual target, while it was 91.60 percent of the revised government target of Rs 1.286 trillion.
Likewise, the capital expenditure reached 63.2 percent (Rs 222.68 billion) of the allocated amount of Rs 352.35 billion, mainly due to the last hour expenses made by the government in the last FY that ended on Wednesday. As of 11 months (mid-June 2025), the expenditure only amounted to Rs 144.48 billion, 41.01 percent of the total allocation. In the last one month, the expenditure on development works surged by an additional 22.19 percent of the allocated amount, worth Rs 78.20 billion.
