KATHMANDU, Oct 16: Expressing grief over the demise of centenarian Satya Mohan Joshi, the government has declared a public holiday.
Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha expressed his grief over the death of Joshi and said that the government will announce a public holiday. However, the official announcement from the government has not come yet.

Minister Shrestha, who reached Lalitpur Metropolitan City on Sunday afternoon to pay his last respects to Joshi, said in a conversation with reporters that he had discussed with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba about announcing a public holiday.
“I just talked with the Prime Minister. A proposal has been made by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation,” Minister Shrestha said. "On behalf of the government, it has been decided to give a day of national holiday as a form of mourning for the death of the man of the century, Satya Mohan Joshi, and the official notification regarding this will come through the government.”
