KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The government has announced names of the recipients of the 'Prime Minister National Talent' award for their significant contribution to peace, good governance, innovation, scientific research, and development. Officials declared the award during the Democracy Day celebrations at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on Wednesday.
The government awarded Dr Chhiring Lama (Sindhupalchowk) for his contributions to telemedicine and recognized Dr Biraj Singh Thapa (Morang) for his work in scientific and technological innovation. The government also honored record-holding mountaineer Purnima Shrestha (Gorkha). Similarly, the government awarded Abhash Maskey (Kathmandu) and Hari Ram Shrestha (Gorkha) for their contribution to science and technology.

Similarly, the government also awarded Dr Om Murti Anil (Mahottari) in the medical field, Sabitra Bhandari (Lamjung) in sports, and Rabindra Puri (Bhaktapur) for heritage conservation. Dil Shova Shrestha (Kathmandu) and Ramji Adhikari (Gorkha) received the award for their contribution to humanitarian and social service.
The government will organize a special ceremony later to present the awards to the winners.
The Cabinet decided to establish the award on December 3, 2018, to encourage talented citizens.
