Goma Air aircraft grounded after bird hit at TIA

KATHMANDU, March 2: A Goma Air aircraft that flew for Lukla from Kathmandu has been grounded after it suffered a bird hit at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Wednesday morning.

A possible accident was averted after pilot and co-pilot opted for an emergency landing following bird hit soon after the take off.“An eagle collided at left wing of the aircraft when it was only 200 meters in air from the runway,” said Goma Air Managing Director Manoj Karki, “The aircraft made an emergency landing soon after the collision.”

The aircraft with a call sign 9N-AKZ that suffered bird hit at 8:46 am this morning was carrying nine passengers.
