Agriculture remains a cornerstone of Nepal’s economy, contributing around 25 percent to the country’s gross domestic product and employing approximately 50 percent of the workforce. Despite this, only about three percent of the national budget is allocated to the sector, with nearly 80 percent of that budget already expended, according to the ministry.

During the handover, Minister Chaudhary stated that she would sign off on major ministry decisions only after receiving priority directives from the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers.
