The victim girl from Nuwakot, whom police refer to as ´Nuwakot 9´ , was deceived by her aunt, who had taken her to India under the pretext of visiting the girl´s mother living in India. The girl´s mother currently lives in Laddakh after her second marriage.[break]
“I had not met my mother for about a year and wanted to visit her. I trusted my aunt and followed her to India. But later, I learned that she had other plans,” said the girl. The girl came to know about the ill-intention of her aunt after she happened to overhear the aunt bargaining in Hindi with an Indian agent at the hotel where they were styaing. The girl said her aunt wanted to sell her for Rs 400,000. After spending four days in a hotel in New Delhi, the aunt had fled the hotel leaving the girl behind.
“As per the aunt´s suggestion, I had not told anyone that I was visiting India,” added the girl. She also informed that she left home with her aunt on March 24 and reached Delhi on the March 27 through the Sunauli border. According to the girl, she was able to flee the hotel as she understood Hindi. At present, the girl is under the protection of Kosheli, an anti-trafficking organization.
