Ghising, a fugitive involved in a banking offense, arrested for looting police weapons after forcing them to remove uniforms

KATHMANDU, Oct 20: Police have arrested a man involved in attacking security personnel, committing arson, and looting weapons during the Gen-Z protest.



The Kathmandu District Police Range arrested 48-year-old Gautam Ghising, a resident of Shailung Rural Municipality–1 in Dolakha, currently residing in Jadibuti, Kathmandu–12.

According to police, Ghising was involved in vandalizing and setting fire to public property during the Gen-Z protest held in Kathmandu on September 9.


He allegedly set fire to a police vehicle in the Baneshwor area, attacked police personnel on duty, forced them to remove their uniforms and looted a weapon from one of the officers.


The Kathmandu District Police Range has extended Ghising’s judicial remand by eight days, as approved by the Kathmandu District Court, to continue the investigation on charges of attempted murder and criminal offense.


Police also revealed that Ghising was previously a fugitive in a banking offense case registered at the Gaushala Police Circle in 2022.
