Bir Bahadur Kami, his two-year-old son Lali of Dufa Village, Dhungachalna-2 and Bhaire Buda, a resident of the same locality, are among the victims. The three had been swept away by the Dufa River while they were trying to cross the river. Kami died while being rushed to hospital.
Similarly, Bal Bahadur Sarki, 65, of Barhabisa-2, Bajura and nine-year-old Chandra Rokaya of Pandusen-5 also died after being swept away by a river.
According to a local Chetraj Jaisi, Sarki had been swept away and eventually died on Saturday. The floods triggered by heavy rainfall have destroyed properties worth millions in Kuldevmando VDC. The floods have also washed away houses displacing a few families of the VDC.
Transportation services have been disrupted due to the floods.
The drinking water pipeline has also been swept away in the flood causing drinking water shortage in the area. Fourteen families of Sayal are at the danger of being displaced. Farmlands have also been washed away by the flood in Sayal and Kuldevmando-2.
According to Chief District Officer and Coordinator of the natural calamities rescue committee, Basudev Ghimire, a rescue team has been deployed in the troubled area to ascertain the losses and rescue and facilitate the displaced families.
