KATHMANDU, Aug 4: The Ministry of Finance held discussions with the Ministry of Health and Population regarding the implementation of the budget for the fiscal year 2082/83.
During the meeting, the Health Ministry proposed the addition of 2,100 health personnel including doctors and nurses for federal hospitals to strengthen specialized services and expand healthcare delivery.

Health Minister Pradeep Paudel emphasized the need for additional manpower to enhance service delivery and healthcare access across all seven provinces. He said expanding services requires adequate staffing to ensure efficiency and reach.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel acknowledged the need for skilled health professionals to make service delivery faster, more effective and of higher quality. He said further consultation will be carried out regarding the human resource requirement before moving forward.
The discussion also covered several issues, including the national health insurance program, social security, free medicines for children, and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of Bir Hospital in Duwakot, Bhaktapur, along with treatment facilities for burn injuries.
