Federal Parliament forms parliamentary friendship group with 44 countries

The Federal Parliament of Nepal has formed a parliamentary friendship group and appointed a coordinator for the expansion of relations with the parliaments of 41 different countries and the coordinators of the remaining three parliamentary friendship groups will be appointed soon.

KATHMANDU, Dec 26: Speaker Devraj Ghimire has urged the coordinators of the parliamentary friendship group to move forward to further strengthen parliamentary relations with foreign countries.


He made this statement during the discussion with the coordinators of the parliamentary friendship group at Singh Durbar on Thursday.

Speaker Ghimire mentioned that the Federal Parliament of Nepal has formed a parliamentary friendship group and appointed a coordinator for the expansion of relations with the parliaments of 41 different countries and the coordinators of the remaining three parliamentary friendship groups will be appointed soon.


Speaker Ghimire appointed Sita Gurung as the coordinator of the Nepal-United Arab Emirates (UAE) Parliamentary  Friendship Group, Uday Shamsher Rana as the coordinator of the Nepal-Saudi Arabia Parliamentary Friendship Group, Gyanendra Bahadur Karki as the coordinator of the Nepal-Ireland Parliamentary Friendship Group, Dr Anjan Shakya as the coordinator of Nepal-Azerbaijan Parliamentary Friendship Group, Lila Nath Shrestha, as the coordinator of Nepal-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Group, Dr Chanda Karki as the coordinator of Nepal-Norway Parliamentary Friendship Group and Sushila Sirpali Thakuri as the coordinator of Nepal-Bhutan Parliamentary Group .


Similarly, Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has been appointed as the coordinator of Nepal-United States Parliamentary Friendship Group, Gagan Kumar Thapa as the coordinator of Nepal-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group,  Biraj Bhakta Shrestha as the coordinator of Nepal-UK Parliamentary Friendship Group,  Dr Narayan Khadka as the coordinator of Nepal-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group and Narayan Kaji Shrestha as the coordinator of Nepal-China Parliamentary Friendship Group.


Speaker Ghimire expressed his conviction that the parliamentary friendship group will play an important role in developing the relationship with the designated country.
