KATHMANDU, June 20: Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal Abrar H. Hashmi on Thursday held a meeting with members of the Pakistan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship Group of the Federal Parliament of Nepal, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and parliamentary diplomacy.
The meeting, held in Kathmandu, was attended by Nepali lawmakers from the friendship group, diplomats from the Embassy of Pakistan and representatives of the Nepal-Pakistan Friendship and Cultural Association.

During the interaction, Ambassador Hashmi praised the longstanding and cordial relations between Nepal and Pakistan, which he said were rooted in shared cultural heritage, mutual respect, and regional affinity. He highlighted strong people-to-people ties and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing cooperation in areas such as trade, tourism, education, health, climate resilience, and regional peace.
Ambassador Hashmi also briefed the group on recent developments in Pakistan’s economy and regional dynamics, underlining Pakistan’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous South Asia. He welcomed the Nepali Parliament’s interest in promoting institutional linkages through parliamentary diplomacy.
Members of the parliamentary group appreciated Pakistan’s continued support for Nepal and expressed satisfaction with the state of bilateral relations. They emphasized the importance of regular parliamentary exchanges and called for enhanced collaboration in areas including economic development, culture, youth engagement, women’s empowerment, support for marginalized communities, and technical capacity-building.
Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening institutional linkages and maintaining open dialogue to deepen the multifaceted relationship between the two countries. The event underscored a shared resolve to build on historical goodwill and explore new avenues of cooperation to advance mutual interests and regional harmony, the embassy said in a statement.
