PATAN (LALITPUR), April 29: European Union Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo met with Chiri Babu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, on Monday at the mayor’s office.
Mayor Maharjan said the ambassador and he discussed Lalitpur’s development works and its relationship with the European Union.

"The meeting with Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo was very cordial. She showed keen interest in the metropolitan city’s initiatives, particularly in heritage conservation, environmental protection, and greenery promotion. We had a very effective discussion on areas of mutual interest," Mayor Maharjan said.
He added that Lalitpur Metropolitan City has prioritized social development and is leading the country’s municipalities in disaster management efforts.
Ambassador Lorenzo praised Mayor Maharjan’s vision for progress and commitment to the city’s development. She expressed her happiness at meeting and engaging with a mayor actively working for positive societal change.
She thanked the metropolis for its warm hospitality and pledged to support the welfare of Lalitpur’s citizens and its overall development. Ambassador Lorenzo also reaffirmed her commitment to strengthening the relationship between Nepal and the European Union.
During the meeting, they also discussed "Europe Day 2025." Chief Administrative Officer Rekha Das Shrestha said the Patan Museum will host this year’s Europe Day program, which is celebrated annually on May 8.
