KATHMANDU, Feb 2: US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R. Thompson had a courtesy meeting with Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Balendra Shah (Balen) on Thursday. In the meeting held in Mayor Shah's office, mutual issues were discussed.
During the meeting, Mayor Shah said, "We can run IT (Information Technology) training as a mutual program. From this, American companies get manpower for work. Nepali youths can earn income. Along with this, they can become skilled manpower for the world market.”

Stating that Kathmandu is working to join the film genre under the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, Mayor Shah said, “We expect that the embassy will facilitate the establishment of mutual programs with Hollywood film producers, directors, actors, and distributors.”
During the meeting, Ambassador Thompson said that the US is positive for facilitation. "We are positive to participate in the creative programs here and to facilitate the increase of expert, commercial, social and civil level relations in such programs from the side of America," he said.
Thompson has also invited Mayor Shah to visit the US.
